Reading to Children

" Reading to your child provides a valuable educational advantage; there's no better way to achieve it. Children who are read to do fr better in school than those who are not..."
Read to Me: Raising kids who love to Read
by Bernice e. Cullinan

OK, so many of us lead very busy lives but there a lots of ways to sneak a little reading time in with our children.

  • place books where they play
  • keep a book in your purse/bag
  • let them write the grocery list (even if that means they are drawing it)
  • read a book that you may both enjoy (even if it doesn't have pictures... they won't care if you use cool voices)
  • try to get the whole family to participate (read a story at the dinner table or while someone is cooking)
  • make it special... have a special chair or blanket to snuggle with.
